Course Description
This seminar focuses on the structure and function of the head and neck as they relate to oral-motor efficiency, including feeding, articulation, respiration, and tongue/jaw function. Emphasis is placed on soft tissue issues related to the neck and shoulder musculature and oral-moor techniques outside and inside the mouth. Physical handling techniques needed to support postural adaptations, respiration, vocalization, and feeding are discussed, presented, and demonstrated. Handouts and head/Neck Manual included in PDF file format.

1. Identify the structures of the head and neck.
2. Identify the critical elements of soft tissue intervention for the neck and shoulders.
3. Identify postural adaptations required for efficient oral-motor function.
4. Identify physical handling techniques effective in improving oral-motor function.
